Officially back on track as of today. Doc says all clear. Ends an 8-month period of extreme patience and a real head trip… Back to it… See you soon.
strength number three: positivity
(via thewonderyears)
I only hope to be as accomplished, dedicated, and poised as Derek Jeter in my very own career in Higher Education. His professionalism is always an example I have looked to since my early high school days. Playing for the Yankees is a sacred job for Derek Jeter, but at the end of the day he knows that the team’s success always comes before his own.
Student Affairs a sacred career for me also because the student’s needs will always come before myself. It is sacred work says Dr. Larry Roper, because we’re the ones who care the most.
Jeter wears the #2 because the team is number 1. I feel just the same.
Congrats on breaking the 3,000 hit career milestone Jeter!
DAY 12: Worlds of Fun
JUNE 26- Today we went towards Kansas City and went to Worlds of Fun, a local amusement park. I think this is the first time that I realized that if I’m going to an amusement park that there absolutely has to be either a) fair style food (scones, roasted corn, cotton candy, etc.) or b) they have to have a pretty grand selection or adult rides. I think this might be why I secretly prefer water parks. For the record I can’t swim, but chilling in a river ride, or going down a ton of different water slides sounds amazing to me. I think we’ll try to go to a newer local water park a bit later this summer.
That aside, I had a great time with my new friends here at KU.There were about 14 of us who went and we rode 5 or 6 roller coasters that were pretty awesome. Hands down favorite: the boomerang. I love a great roller coaster. Good times. And we went to Wendy’s after. Great Way to end the week and say goodbye to Iggy and Rockson.

DAY 11: Mass(achusetts) Street. and Route 11
June 25- I think I got lucky and landed myself in what maybe the coolest part of Kansas. It’s just the right size, has everything I need (a target, panera, american eagle, urban outfitters, an awesomely traditional Big 12 university, and off chain restaurants), so if I actually lived here I would maybe only need to leave town to see a concert and that’s about it. Mass. St. is the heart of Lawrence, Kansas with independent restaurants and shops with a few chains sprinkled in, a little independent theater that is just precious, and lively streets with dads dancing with their baby girls and mom’s with toddler on harnesses disguised as monkey back packs (ask later…lol).
Fred and I just took our time and explored! I’ll post pictures in the next post but a lot of the really good ones this time have been taken by Fred, but we switched back and fourth a little.

“Tap on my window, knock on my door, I wanna make you feel beautiful.”
-Songs About Jane
I think it’s really cool when a person with a very very plain name, ends up spectacularly beautiful. I suppose I’m mostly speaking of women. Sometimes it seems that people name their children these beautiful and exotic names in hopes that they will live up to the name and grow up to be as beautiful and exotic as the name they were given.
I wonder what “Jane” who Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane looked like. Apparently Jane was an ex-girlfriend of Adam Levine and she was the “muse” for the album. I bet she was a knockout.
